What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My goal is to be a starting goalie that a coach trusts to help a team win in a high end junior league in North America, after juniors I hope to take my talents and continue my career in university or college with a scholarship.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals because it is something I have dreamt as a kid, it would be my biggest accomplishment to be able to play hockey while in school. It is also my goal not just for me but for my parents, they’ve put so much time and money into me having the time of my life playing hockey and developing as an athlete and person, this would be the ultimate way to close out my childhood sport and possibly take it further into pro.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
Things that separate me as a player are the want to work harder everyday, I take things very seriously so I’m able to get them done efficiently, an area that can use some work is my visualization, goalies need it and it’s something im trying to improve on. I continue to get better by always trying to be better than the day before in all aspects.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
A coach can expect me to bring leadership with confidence and positivity, I’m a very confident and passionate goalie and person who brings that to his teammates, I’m always wanting the best for my team and bring positivity and confidence as I believe it helps team stay calm throughout a game.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
the impact that I am looking to have in my sports career is to give back to the communities that helped me to where I am, and to also help younger goalies learn and grow as goaltenders. Throughout my career I’ve had numerous coaches and communities help me grow my game, one goal I have is coming back after my career is done and helping these programs grow the same way they helped me. The past year I’ve taken on the role of coaching younger goalies, I find joy in helping goalies learn new skills and developing their game, that’s why I’m wanting to make an impact with goalie coaching once my career is over.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I believe the separation of the best players comes from there “want” to be better, the best of the best are always taking the time to be better than the day before, they understand that diet, training, and time will make them improve and they understand sacrificing things that are a want for the things that they need.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favourite part of the game is road trips with the team, I enjoy taking a bus with friends and having a great time with them, and being able to go from that to a hockey game is even better.
