What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Dominate the AEHL this year, play Junior A for the following 2 years being a key player on whatever team I’m on, Go to university for hockey and draw attention to myself for professional hockey opportunities.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
No matter how hard I work in practice and games I will always be big enough to give the other person a tap saying good rep or good game, sometimes that requires me swallowing my pride. I may have issues with guys on ice but that always stays on the ice. I don’t let it affect how I see the guy. Very rarely do I let my emotions get the better of me, this often happens in high pressure situations. Whenever I get wound up and start feeling my emotions might take over I calm myself down and play shift by shift, play by play, and break the game down into little pieces.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
My favorite thing is to compete as hard as I possibly can, some games will look different than others. Sometimes I get chippy and just make smart plays that won’t cost anything and sometimes I run the play offensively, oftentimes this will vary by shift. In practice I push myself as hard as I can, as well as my teammates. I want to win so I push my teammates to compete so I get better and so do they.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I want to have a season where my team wins everything. That is my greatest desire and I have never been on a team that won the last game of the season, so that is what I am looking for. Down the road I would also love to make an impact on my community like my Dad. He was the president for my community association (Crowfoot Coyotes). He is a man that gives back to the community and I want to strive to do this as well.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I believe the best players in the world have a different mindset than everybody else. Instead of sleeping in, they’re up earlier than everybody else and while some guys stay up later the guys who make it to the NHL are in bed way earlier than everybody else. They are always thinking about hockey because they are determined to win and be the best they possibly can be. My favorite part of the game is the competition. I love being able to test myself against another guy especially when people around the game think he is better than I am. I love being the underdog, when I get cut or someone says something about me it just fuels me even more.
