What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
I would have to start off with my 3 main goals within the sport I would like to achieve within the next 5 years. My first goal is to get a college commitment at the end of my junior career. My second goal is to win a national championship. And my 3rd and final goal is to become the best player and person i can be by working on my game in any way i possibly can and working on myself as a human being so i can be the best i can be in any aspect of life.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals because they are just landmarks i want to achieve on my journey and they are so important to me because I have always been told i can’t do it, and its not the fact that i want to prove everyone wrong, i just love being the underdog and i want to succeed in any way i possibly can and i will sacrifice whatever it is going to take and i know a lot of players will sit there and say this but i can promise i will put my body on the line, my life on the line for any organization or team i become apart of because this game is everything to me.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I would have to say that my work ethic separates me as a player, and the fact that every shift i take i give everything to make a difference, and as a person i think my good heart separates me, because i’m the type of guy that can lift people up around me when there down whether its on the ice or off. And I continue to get better by working like a dog everyday, and focusing on the fine details to elevate my performance and game, whether it’s in the gym, watching film, shooting pucks, or taking care of my body.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
It is pretty simple I bring compete, when i show up i’m there mentally and physically, and i will put in my utmost absolute best effort, my work ethic is what separates me and another factor would be i will not complain whether we have a bag skate or whether we have to run 10 miles, i’m there to get better everyday focusing on the next rep always, whilst still being grateful for the opportunity.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
Im looking to have an impact in a lot of aspects of this game which include, a championship I have never been apart of a championship and it would be an honor to be with a group of guys that work there bags off day in and out to win a championship, I also look to help youth and mentor and train them on the ice, I love to do stuff like that because at the end of the day they look up to players like me and it’s a huge privilege.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I believe that the factors that separate the best players in the world is that when they are working they get it instilled in their mind that somebody is working harder so it pushes them beyond their limits, that they never knew they had, yes you do need rest occasionally but our bodies can do crazy things. And how they see the ice and the mentality of seeing a play 5 plays ahead.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite thing about the game is going to war with the team and leaving everything on the ice, which does consist of blood sweat and tears, I also love the work it takes when you exhausted but you need to keep pushing and once you finally break that mental barrier, it almost makes you feel like you can achieve anything.
