What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Over the next 5 years my goal is to play Junior A hockey and then play and attend NCAA Division 1 College. These goals are focused on advancing both my hockey and academic development.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
My goals over the next five years are interrelated. I wish to work towards Junior A and eventually NCAA D1 hockey to advance both my sport and academic development. These are important to me as believe both hockey and academics will continue to shape who am as a person and an athlete and in turn will contribute to my growth as an individual. It would mean a lot to me to achieve my goals as it would display how far hard work and commitment can take you in life and serve as a catalyst for future career endeavours I wish to pursue.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
My best attributes as a player would have to be my ultra-compete level paired with my versatile shot. Some areas of ongoing improvement would have to be finding open ice on a more regular basis and puck handling at top speed. I continue to work on my weaknesses by engaging with my coaches, watching and assessing film and emphasizing these areas in practice and drill-specific work during free ice after school.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
Attributes I bring to the team would be being a very supportive person and a teammate who will push and encourage you to compete all the time. A coach can expect a hard worker and a team-first mentality if they select me for the roster. On an individual basis, a coach could expect contributions from me in facilitating offensive chances off the rush, contributing to penalty kill systems, regularly finishing checks and shot – blocking.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
The impact I want to leave on my teammates and those who have supported and coached me is the value of hard work and what it means to grind, love the grind, and stay disciplined throughout the journey.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
What separates the best players in the world is their ability to do everything with a purpose; every rep and every detail is done to the full extent.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite thing about hockey is the memories you make with your teammates, the long bus rides, the hotel nights, and the team builders; these experiences make hockey a brotherhood.
