What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
To win, both as a team and an individual. I would like to continue to develop as a player allowing me to play at the highest level possible. Entering my final year of u18AAA I intend on being a team leader both on and off the ice, while increasing my point production and remaining a responsible defensive player. The next steps include playing junior and eventually to play for an NCAA school. Continuing to improve on aspects of my game consistently will allow me to achieve these goals.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These goals are important as they will allow me to play the sport I love while also creating opportunities for my future through academics. Achieving these goals would mean I am successful in the game of hockey, school and a future career.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
My drive and determination to get better at anything I do, along with my competitive nature sets me apart from others. This was demonstrated by my jump from u18AA to U18AAA this past season – a result of goal setting, dedication and hard work during the offseason. My drive is also demonstrated in my academics as I continue to maintain honors.
Areas that I intend to improve upon are getting quicker and stronger, reading the play more fluently, allowing for quicker decisions.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
My team and coach can expect a player that believes in hard work and continuous improvement. I always take feedback and implement it into my game. No matter the situation I will remain calm and exemplify a strong degree of sportsmanship. This allows me to be a well rounded player that can play in every situation, but also a well rounded person off the ice.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
Along my hockey journey I hope to inspire kids and ultimately be a good role model. I want to leave a lasting impact in the Buffalos association and any other that I will play during my career.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The best players in the world are dedicated and disciplined. Although they have inherent athletic ability, they consistently put in the effort and enjoy doing it. Their passion for the game is unlike anything else and they devote everything they do to their craft.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite part of the game is the memories you create and the people you meet along the way.The culture in hockey is unlike anything
else, creating relationships that I will have for the rest of my life. That feeling of success or winning creates memories that I will think back to for the rest of my time.
