What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My goal is to play D1 hockey in college and elevate that team to a national championship. After college, I want to play in the PWHL. I am currently in the process of beginning a brand company, Smiles Hockey Co, and will begin making apparel, and will grow that business after college. I will also be providing lessons to younger goalies and hope to develop that into a business.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
My goal has always been to play at a high level. I want that challenge. I will prove why I play at that level. I want to be the best. I want to play with the best. I want us to win. I’m very driven in this way.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a player and a person is slight. I’m a happy person and player and always have been. I always seek to improve my play and I receive critique and advice openly. I do not ever rest on my abilities. I am able to learn from my mistakes and change them. I maintain an optimistic outlook after every game win or lose. I can always learn.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
A coach and the team can expect a positive attitude from a player who will work as hard as the hardest person on the team. Someone who will push herself to the end of the game to keep us in it.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I hope my impact on the ice will lead me to the PWHL after college. On any current team, I will strive for success and the ultimate win. I hope to work with my team and give back to the community. I was raised to always give back to those in need. Community is what makes you who you are.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The work they put in when no one is watching is what separates the best players. Their drive to persevere when they’re losing and always get better, and their ability to win with class.
Favourite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite thing is competition. I am the one you want in net. I bring my best to every game and I prove why you chose me.
