What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
With my game play I want to improve on my skating mobility and explosiveness with being first on the puck to give me more time to make an out pass in the defensive zone along with continuously improving my hockey IQ.
In the next 4 to 5 years my goal is to be a leader on my team and lead the defensive core on the team and earn the opportunity to play Division 1 Collage hockey and receive an education while playing hockey.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
Playing and watching hockey today, the game is becoming more and more about skating ability, speed and explosiveness on the puck. I want to continuously improve on my skating ability so I can easily transition into the next level of hockey. Playing the at the next level of hockey would be the ultimate achievement and is the next rung on the ladder for me and my career.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me it that I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my team or teammates on and off the ice. Weather its stepping up to block a shot or taking a big hit to make a play, I am willing to make the sacrifice to help the team. This also goes with my everyday life, being a part of a tight knit group of guys has shown me what it means to be accountable and that they all depend on me and we depend each other.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
Definitely my work ethic, determination and perseverance and being obsessed with improving my self each day, also my willingness to compete and do whatever it takes to help my team or teammates out at any time on and off the ice.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I want to have a positive and lasting impact on my community and give back what I have learned, I volunteer my time in the offseason with on ice training and skill development for younger groups in Spruce Grove AB. and act as a positive role model for the younger groups of kids. I also like to engage with the community I am currently playing in and be a part of the community by helping out and contributing at various events.
The impact I want to have on my team is to be looked at as a leader on and off the ice and a person that is willing to give it everything I have each night and depended upon on and off the ice. I want my teammates to remember me for being the type of player that left everything I had on the ice each and every night.
I have control of my success and with my hard work, determination and perseverance I can achieve anything I put my mind to. The next step for me is playing Division 1 hockey.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
Hard work, determination and perseverance and being obsessed with improving yourself and being your best each day.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
The feeling of freedom I have on the ice, everything washes away when I step on the ice and I can focus on the task at hand, nothing else matters. And the life long friendships and experiences I have made along the journey.
