What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My main goals over the course of the next 5 years include playing the highest hockey level possible while gaining a scholarship to further my education.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These have been my goals for a while now because I’ve always wanted to help my parents financially and see that all my hard work has paid off. I also want to show I can compete at the highest level possible. It would mean everything to me and my family if I achieve my goals, words can’t even begin to explain the feeling.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me from others is my leadership on and off the ice. On the ice when you see me going, playing a high energy game, it’s contagious. Off the ice, I’m constantly in the gym trying to push my self to get to the next level. I’m typically last one off the ice at practices and games, I like to get a little extra work in, so that I know I’ve done more than the guys beside me.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
When a coach selects me for their team, they will see they chose a guy that has a good character, who they can crack jokes with but when it’s time to work, it’s time to work. I bring leadership, speed, energy and a everything on the line mentality in my play.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I want to inspire kids across the world that anything is possible, no matter their skill or size. Hard work, consistency and attention to detail can get you a long way as long as you embrace it.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The best players in the world like Sid the kid, McDavid or Bedard all have something in common. Obsession. It’s not a coincidence that they all would shoot pucks for hours, or always be on the ice or in the gym.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favourite thing about the game other than winning has got to be getting rewarded for hard work individually or as a team. If I’m able to use a skill I learned in practice to help me score and that leads to my team winning the game, there is no better feeling. Or if I see all my teammates buying in and we start winning a lot, it is a unreal feeling.
