What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
To gain more confidence with the puck in both the offensive and defensive zones. To step outside of my comfort zone and push myself to be a more offensive defenseman. To get committed to a Division 1 team where I can pursue my hockey career and complete my post secondary education that is very important to me as well.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
I believe that having these goals will keep me focussed and motivated for the long haul, ensuring I can realize my goals. This would be a dream come true for me, and proof that hard work pays off.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I am always up for a challenge. I never give up, regardless of how tough the situation is, or how intense the workout seems, or how tough losing the game is, I always persevere and keep going. I personally think that I need to work on my communication and relationships with my coaches. I’m a pretty serious and private guy, but I feel I would benefit from opening up and having more confidence in myself and my coaches. I continue to get better, because I train hard, I am open to advice and criticism and because playing hockey is ultimately what I love to do.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
To any team, I bring a hard work ethic, unwavering commitment, leadership and the willingness to learn, to try new things and push myself and my teammates to be the best they could be on and off the ice. I am very coachable, and I enjoy hearing all the positive and negative feedback so that I can reflect and implement the necessary changes needed to elevate my game and contribute positively to the team.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I am looking to be a player, teammate and friend that is respected, admired, sought and remembered.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
Talent and exceptional skills along with dedication, determination and hard work separate the most elite players. This all comes with being very coachable, having the desire to win at all costs, and willingness to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve them.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My Teammates.
