What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My main goal in hockey in the short term is to make U18AAA. Long term I’d like to play junior and then get a scholarship to play hockey and attend school.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
I love competing and playing hockey and I’d like to continue to up the ranks playing against the best competition. With that being said, education and one day a good job is also important to me. Hockey is an opportunity for me to play a game I love and to potentially get schooling and a job because of it. Moving through the ranks to the highest possible level while preparing for my future would be a dream come true.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I have a mindset where I want to achieve my goals. I will set my goal and I will work until I achieve it. I work on my skills so I can be prepared in any situation on and off the ice, and away from hockey. Some of my areas of work on the ice is my speed and my quickness and footwork while carrying the puck. Off ice I’d like to improve my school work, and my communication skills. I will continue to get better by working hard and putting myself into uncomfortable situations to push myself.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
If a coach were to select me on there roster, they could expect a hard worker with a positive attitude and a drive to get better. I would bring to the team a winning attitude, a friendly personality and a strong work ethic every day.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
Through sports I would like to leave a good impact on the community. For example, being a leader for younger kids, by setting a good example and showing them that hard work pays off. Also I am a Type 1 Diabetic so I’d like to be able to educate and speak within the community and show that achieving personal goals while managing diabetes is possible.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
What separates the best players is their love and obsession of the game and for their training. Anyone can play and be good but the players who are obsessed and I love it, will keep improving. Some attributes that separates them is there work ethic, attention to detail, how act on and of the ice and their drive for the game.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
I love being at the rink with buddies. I love the competition and the rush you get in the heat of the battle.
