What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Throughout the next five years, my goal in hockey is to become stronger on and off the ice. Being better with my puck protection and increasing my aggressiveness on the ice are both important for me to accomplish.
Next year my goal is to secure a spot within an aaa organization in Saskatchewan. I understand that working hard and being a positive team player are key factors in accomplishing this goal.
Once my time in minor hockey is completed, I want to make a junior team somewhere within Saskatchewan. Ultimately, having the opportunity to play in a NCAA school would be a great experience and would allow me to complete a business degree while playing college hockey.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
Being a good hockey player and playing college or junior hockey has always been a goal for me. I love this sport and I feel like it would be a cool experience to continue focusing on this passion once my minor hockey experience is completed.
There are many reasons why these goals are important to me, but I would love to continue in this sport for myself and my dad. My dad has always been one of my greatest supporters. I don’t want to let him down, as I know he has given me endless opportunities to excel. My dad would be very proud of me, and I would feel great knowing that my hard work, dedication, commitment and passion has paid off. I have been very lucky to have some great coaches throughout my hockey experience. My coaches played a big role in life, they have always pushed me to be better. They have been there for me, and I am confident that they will help me achieve my future goals.
I have always felt that playing hockey isn’t a right, it is a privilege. I have always been fortunate enough to play this game that I love. I recognize that many kids do not get these opportunities. I love going to practice every day while working hard to better myself.
Hockey is passion…. It is not just a sport that gets you moving and gives you exercise. It is a highly competitive game and I push myself to be the best person and player that I can be. I strive to be a better version of myself on and off the ice, and hope that coaches and scouts can see and recognize my love of this sport.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a player and a person is my mature, respectful and caring nature. I am confident, hardworking, humble and skillful.
Some areas requiring work are my ability to maintain complete focus on the task. I am very hardworking, but at times I can get sidetracked. I am aware of these challenges and continue to work on them every day.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I will always be a respectful player. I am hardworking and I will give it my all on and off the ice. I will never do anything intentionally wrong.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
Being a positive player within the community is very important to me. Hockey players have a profound impact on people within the community, which is very cool. I want to be a person who helps within the community and has an impact on everyone, no matter if it is a peer, a child, or a community member. I want to be the guy they remember.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
I believe what separates the best players in the work is by their character. Take Sidney Crosby as an example. He is a great hockey player, but he is also one of the humblest, kind, most respectful and gentle people in this sport. That is why everyone knows and loves him and what sets him apart from others. He is a wonderful leader on and off the ice.
