What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Continue to improve on my skills to be able to keep advancing to the next level. I want to make the next step to play with Virden in the MJHL this coming season. My goal for the following season would be to have the opportunity to play in the NAHL, and progress up to the USHL and go on to NCAA. Alternatively if the opportunity is there, going to play in the WHL is also a path I would be happy with.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
Being able to get a scholarship for school is important. When I was drafted to Calgary, the idea of the WHL scholarship was very appealing, being able to use it for other forms of post-secondary education. I have dreamed about going away to school to play hockey in the States since I was a young hockey player.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
On the ice I am very competitive and hard working, and a positive presence in the dressing room. Off the ice I am responsible and respectful.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
What I bring is my hard work ethic, being a good teammate and a high drive to always improve my skills. A coach can expect me to be there to give my best every step of the way.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
Of course success, however it may not mean winning a championship, but to get to the next level and checking off a box of my list of goals. I had the opportunity to help at a Intro to Goalie camp with young kids wanting to try goalie, and it was great to give back to help out. I also look forward to doing community events when I make a junior team, I know they do a lot of community involvement.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
Their mindset, you can have all the skill but if you need the mindset to overcome adversity, need a positive attitude. Need to be a strong person, a never give up attitude.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
The competition. The challenges. Being able to prove you can go out and do it by dedication and hard work. Being part of a team, making good friends along the way.
