What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My main goals are to play hockey for as long as I can and move up to higher levels at every opportunity I have. Playing junior hockey and getting a scholarship is something I work on every day and push myself to earn that goal. Another goal is to benefit myself every day and just make every attribute of my game better and better each day.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals because I devote most of my life to hockey and want to make something out of it. I’ve dreamed about putting on a junior team jersey since I was a kid and playing college and to make that dream a reality would be something amazing. They are important to me because I love the game and am a desiccated student in the class. Keeping my grades up in school has always been important to me for what I may do in the future.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I am a very hardworking, dedicated, and respectful person on and off the ice. My strong on ice attributes include my speed, physicality, and shot. I will continue to get better at all these things and skills I need to work on by working hard over the summer and trying to work on all different things. I will get out of my comfort zone and make things I need to work on things that are my strong attributes. Some life skills that separate me from other people are being respectful, hardworking, dedicated, nice, likability and caring.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
A coach can expect me to be a leader in the dressing room and work hard to earn my role on the team. I will work hard to set a standard for myself and my teammates. In the dressing room they can expect me to be a quick learner, respectful kid, and hard worker. I will try to make everyone new as comfortable as possible and set our team up for success early. They can expect me to make good plays and be smart on the ice.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I would like to make a living out of the game whether that is playing pro or coaching at a high level or using my scholarship and school to do something beyond the rink.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I think that what separates the best players in the world from everything else is their work ethic, the way they see the game, and their confidence on the ice as well as their IQ. The best players in the world are also some of the hardest workers, like Sidney Crosby. They think of the game like no other and can see plays happen before everyone else in the arena. They all have high levels of leadership and willingness.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
One of my favourite things about the game is hanging out with the boys. Being at the rink playing/practicing is what it is all about and what I enjoy. One of the best things is scoring goals, especially in close games and tight situations.
