What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Over the next 5 years my goal is to play Junior A hockey and earn an NCAA Division 1 scholarship providing me the opportunity to work towards playing at a pro level.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
I have been training for this opportunity for my lifetime. They are goals that allow me to pursue my hockey career and continue to develop my education. These goals are important to me because they give me purpose and motivation to train and perform at a high level. Achieving these goals would mean that I can continue to play the game I love, and ultimately fulfill my dream.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
My on-ice vision allows me to anticipate & execute plays that no one else will see. Being strong on my skates and responsible with the puck contributes to my success in one-on-one situations. As a person my positive energy fuels others around me. I see my communication as an area I need to improve upon. This past year I took it upon myself to reach past my comfort zone and engage in conversation presenting myself as a leader on and off the ice in order to develop my communication skills.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I am a two way forward that can produce offense off the rush and take pride in my defensive abilities. My work ethic and on-ice play bring energy that motivates my teammates. My willingness to perfect my game and compete at a high level allows me to be coachable and to excel in high pressure situations.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I have had the opportunity to be in the presence of professional athletes throughout my developing years, and the athlete that would take the extra time to acknowledge me or speak with me really had an influence on what I believed my future could be. To be able to one day influence the next generation in this same way would be amazing.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
· On-ice vision
· High level compete
· Desire
· Commitment
· The ability to play with desperation
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
The environment of the sport is my favourite thing about the game. Everyone, whether a player or a fan, come together to achieve a common goal. This creates an energy, a purpose, and a motivation to be the best version of ourselves. These are the reasons I wake up everyday to play the game.
