What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My short-term goals are to keep jumping up the levels of junior hockey to make my way up to the BCHL and potentially major junior. My long-term goal is to play Division 1 College Hockey.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
My goal of playing Division 1 College Hockey is important to me because it will pay for my education and will give me an option to fall back on, allowing me to pursue my professional career. To reach that goal I first need to continue to develop as a student-athlete and play at the highest level of junior hockey that will give me the most exposure to College Hockey. It would mean a lot to me because I have been dreaming about this since I was a little kid, not only would it mean so much to that younger version of myself but to my family as I would be the second person in my lineage to pursue athletics at the collegiate level.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
My resiliency is what separates me from others. It is a trait that has helped me over the years and not giving up just because of one bad day or bad week. Eventually, things will turn around and they always have. The other part of that is the bad days are where you learn the most. An area I need to improve upon is not worrying about things I can’t control. I continue to develop because I show up everyday no matter my mood or anything else even if I don’t want to I’ll still be there.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I bring commitment and leadership. I am someone that believes in doing everything to the best of your abilities or why do it, why give half of your effort. I am someone that will lead by example I can be vocal but I am more of a background leader. I will not ask something of someone if I am unable to do it.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
One of my personal goals is to open a foundation to help successful student athletes get through the priceyness of sports nowadays.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
Sacrificing the short term pleasure for long term success. That they have a different perspective compared to their peers.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
Inspiring the future generation and giving back to them.
