What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
I want to play Junior A and/or post secondary.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
Because I have worked my entire life for it. I was the kid on the ice that wasn’t the best at hockey and wanted to change that. Since then I have always been the hardest worker on the ice, whether it be in practice or game scenarios.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I am a big kid who moves the puck well and has a good hockey IQ. I would like to work on my speed as well as stride.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I bring positive energy and physicality and can be put on the ice in any situation. My goal is and always has been to put my team first. Scoring goals is great, but I see the ice really well and enjoy being a play maker as well. Coaches can expect a consistent effort and my hunger to always get better.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I want to be recognized as an impact player. Whether it’s on the scoreboard or helping my team on the PK. I want other kids to recognize it’s not always the most skilled player making a difference, but that attitude and effort can set you apart from others.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
Definitely work ethic and attitude. You can be the most athletic player on the ice, but if you’re not willing to adapt your game and are uncoachable, what’s the point? Being able to take direction both on and off the ice is a desirable attribute to anyone’s game, whatever their game is.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
I like that there is always something to work on. There are so many dynamics to hockey, whether it’s stick handling, skating, hockey IQ, vision, conditioning etc. Knowing that there are things I want to work on and getting better at them on the ice has given me the confidence to get better off the ice as well.
