What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
In the next five years, I would really like to earn a scholarship to play hockey and go to school. While that is my main goal over the next few years Id also like to be a leader on future teams and get better at my puck-handling skills.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals because something I believe in as a person is to be a good leader and to also get an education. I also want to be a better puck handler because I know if I get better at that I will excel at the next level and levels to come.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I think what separates me are my mental game and my work ethic. I’m mentally strong and have a winning mentality. It’s something I believe can’t be taught but has to be found within. I also push myself to work harder than anyone around me so I can become a better player and achieve success at the next level. Right now I’m working on my puck handling and stride. I go out early before every practice to do some edge work and puck handling and while I’m practicing I focus on lengthening my stride to achieve maximum power.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I bring leadership Hard work and an excellent shot. If coaches were to pick me they’d get a player who plays all 200 feet of the ice, wins a majority of his draws and works harder than anyone on the team.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I want to leave a positive, lasting, impact on my community and make whatever team I’m on better. While I’m playing, I’m going to do whatever possible to make us better to have success. I want to win a championship and then another one.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I think what separates the best players in the world from the rest of us is their work ethic. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing they make sure they worry about themselves take care of themselves and always work hard to continue getting better even when they are already at the top of their game. Most of the time these players are also good leaders and good people. Everyone wants a good person on their team and when they are a good person coaches will work to develop them.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
Winning with the team. I’ve been able to experience it myself, winning the U16 AAA championship and there is no better feeling than going through battle every day and competing with your brothers to do whatever it takes to achieve success and then finally achieving it.
