Derek’s journey began in the Yukon, where his father cultivated his love of the game at an early age. Following his playing career his father encouraged his transition into coaching, leading to over twelve years of high-performance coaching, leadership, and skill development experience. Derek has coached U18AAA, was an assistant coach in AJHL for Bonnyville, and is currently an Assistant Coach for the University of Alberta Golden Bears (USports). On top of his coaching experience, Derek has completed an undergraduate degree in Business and has a Master’s in Coaching and Athletics Administration.
