What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
To excel in my game and play at the highest level I possibly can. For whoever and wherever it may be.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
Hockey has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, I’m very passionate about the sport and I want to see how far it can take me. This specific goal is important to me because achieving it would mean I’ve given everything to my passion and have something tangible to show for it. Achieving this goal would mean all the sacrifices, work put in, and time I’ve put into hockey has paid off.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a hockey player is my Hockey IQ, my shot, and my lengthy build that I use to my advantage. What separates me as a person is my ambition to be and get better as a human being whether academically or own personal goals outside of hockey. Some areas requiring some work would be my play in the defensive zone and playing a bit more physically. Rewatching games of myself and players I idolize and breaking down aspects of the game positively and negatively then trying to make myself better.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I know I can bring versatility to any lineup knowing I can adopt to different roles and provide solutions to different challenges. Any coach can expect me to buy into their system and to also be a reliable player in all situations on and off the ice.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
To be a role model in the community to the younger boys and girls and the fans that come out to support us each and every game. I also hope to leave a legacy in a way like a reputation involving achievements or even records.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I’d say the mental toughness almost every top athlete possesses. Also, player’s competitive spirits and continuous improvement and work on their craft separate the best players in the world from competitors.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
Just the team environment, dressing room banter, especially playing back in my hometown playing with the guys I grew up with. Along with even some of the older fellas, I just enjoy spending every week and weekend with them.
