What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
In the next five years, I look to make a name for myself and develop as much as I can as an athlete and a person. I look to take the next step in my hockey journey and play Junior A in the next year or two. I look to get my schooling paid for and get a D1 scholarship to an NCAA school. After that, I want to turn pro and create a living out of playing hockey. I don’t have to have a 9-5 desk job, I want to be a pro hockey player at the highest level.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals because I don’t want to live a normal life. I don’t want to go to work every day and sit at a desk from 9-5, I want to have the life of a Professional hockey player. These goals are important to me because it proves to myself that I can do it and it turns my mindset into a state of drive and will, I have to earn my future lifestyle and it pushes me more and more each day. Achieving this would mean the world to me because it wouldn’t only make me proud but also all of my loved ones that have sacrificed so much to help me in my career so far.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a person and a player from everyone else is my constant need/want to get better in all areas of the game and in my life. Whether it is on the ice with skills or off the ice within the community and with my teammates. I wouldn’t say there is one specific area I need to improve, I believe that you never perfect an area of your game or your life, but I think I can improve in all aspects of my life. I continue to get better every day by having the urgency to want to improve and separate myself from the rest of the competition.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I always bring a fast-paced and hard-working game anywhere I go. If a coach were to pick me for their roster they would be able to trust me to always work my hardest and play a fast-paced game, while also having a great attitude and to be very supportive of my teammates. They can also expect me to listen to everything they say because I always want to improve my game.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I look to inspire the younger generation and leave a lasting impact on my community and the sports world. I want young kids to look up to me and come to me for assistance and guidance.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The best players in the world obviously have a ton of natural skill, but the thing that separates them from everyone else is their will to compete and want to get better. They are always putting in the extra work to help them separate themselves from everyone else. They are also not only great hockey players but they are also great people, they are always supportive of their teammates and are also always active in their communities.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite thing about hockey is the 23 extra brothers I get to have, you always have someone to go to because we all go through the same things with each other every day. Whether that is in the gym, the room, or on the ice. I also just love the everyday grind, that feeling of getting better and accomplishing your goals.
