What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Next year I’m playing U17 with Delta, my goal for the following year would be to play U18. In my graduation year in 2027 my goal is to be playing junior. During my junior career I will be working towards playing in the WHL, BCHL or USHL. After Juniors, I would love to be playing in NCAA Division 1 hockey with hopes of being drafted and playing pro someday.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
My goal is to eventually be competing in the top leagues. The reason this is my goal is because I want to pursue hockey and my education to the highest level. I have always dreamed of a future in the hockey community. I know how difficult it is to be a WHL or NCAA div 1 player but pushing myself to my limits comes very natural to me and I take my education very seriously and will eventually be a great asset to any program. These goals are important to my family and I because I can pursue my education at the highest level and hopefully my playing abilities can help pay the way. This would mean everything to me and my family as I would be able to fulfil my education and dream of playing hockey professionally.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
As a player I always try to be the hardest working guy on the ice, coaches have always talked about my work ethic on an off the ice. I am also trying to be a leader and great teammate to everyone I have played with. In the classroom I have great relationships with my teachers where I continue to work hard as a respectable student and be a good friend to my classmates. Some things I would love to continue to work on are my on-ice awareness, as well as my physical game. In the classroom I’m working on not being so hard on myself, I will always have high expectations but knowing that I can give myself a break when things don’t go well and continue to study hard and improve for next assignment. I will never stop pushing myself to improve as I know the best players are always working on their craft.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
When I’m playing for you, I make sure to always bring a hard work ethic as well as lots of energy on and off the ice. I always try to be a great teammate regardless of the score and how we’re doing as a team. I know I can bring great energy to the room, and I love being part of a team. Any team I’ve played for has seen the same things from me, I always try to be a great hockey player but more importantly an amazing teammate. I am a very coachable young man and will always put the team first.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
The impact I want to have in the future is being someone who always gives back to the community. I know how expensive hockey is and how lucky I am to play this sport. Being able to give back whether it’s with volunteer work or donations or even just helping around the community is something I will never take for granted. Helping kids get the opportunity they might not have had would bring me a great sense of pride
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
Work ethic is what separates the best players in the world, if you look at someone like Zach Hyman he’s always working to get better at his craft. He also always brings something to the table every shift, could be a hit, goal, or great pass but every shift he is looking to add something for the team. These players are always trying to get better every day and they never look too far ahead just take things day by day. I believe their biggest skill is their compete level. They always want to improve and that’s something I try to carry over into my game.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite thing off ice is the friends and relationships you make during your career. I am always working on being a better friend and teammate and I feel very lucky to be in my position. On ice I just love to compete and battle. There’s nothing like the rush of playing a big game with your closest friends. Going to battle with your team and coaches is something not many kids get to do and I truly love every second of it. I just love being a hockey player.
