What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
This year my goal is to have a successful season with the Maple Leaf Athletic Club (MLAC) U17AAA team, fulfilling my role as a co-captain and maintaining my position on PP1, while also maintaining a 0.5-1 point per game average over the course of the season. I also look forward to affiliating with the U18AAA Junior Oilers Orange team for 5-10 games over the course of the season.
Next season, my goal is to secure a roster spot with the U18AAA Junior Oilers program, maintain a 0.5-1 point per game average, participate on PP1/PP2, be a member of the leadership group and be greater than +5 by season’s end.
For the 2025-26 season, my goal is to secure a roster position with a Junior A franchise. In my second Junior A season, one of my main goals would be to be a member of the leadership group.
For the 2027-28 season, my goal is to secure a roster spot with a US College hockey program
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
My goal is to play US College hockey. To achieve this goal, a student-athlete needs to excel in academics and their sport of choice. I’ve been a dedicated student and athlete throughout my amateur hockey and academic career.
Throughout my lifelong academic and athletic pursuits, I have always strived and successfully achieved my goals towards excellence. These goals are important to me because I enjoy the school environment and broadening my academic potential and I look forward to continuing that in the post-secondary environment. As for my athletic career, I love everything about the game of hockey; the speed, intensity, and the dedication required to achieve success.
Achieving these goals is very important to me and would mean that I made some dreams come true.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
Above all, I have an excellent work ethic and a single-minded focus toward meeting the goals and objectives required to be a successful high-level student-athlete. As I grow and mature, I will continue to seek out more opportunities for leadership and guidance of teammates and classmates. I have a great deal to offer from a leadership perspective and look forward to these opportunities.
I continue to improve my athletic performance in the game of hockey through a highly rigorous training regime. For the past number of years, I have attended hockey academies as well as sport-specific strength training programs in the off-season to ensure that my strength and skill sets continue to develop at the elite level.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
Elite level skill at the defensive position, high-level character, and leadership as well as being a highly coachable athlete and hard-working individual.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
My goals are to continually grow and advance my athletic and academic skill sets in the next four years to achieve the goal of obtaining a roster position with a US College hockey program. To have a successful collegiate hockey career and obtain a college degree as well as become a fully involved member of my college community as well as an ambassador of the institution and the athletic program I represent.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The best players in the world are always engaged in the single-minded focus of growing and developing their God-given talent. The best players in the world are always the first athletes to arrive and the last to leave; whether that’s to the weight room, practices, games, or the classroom. The best athletes in the world are highly coachable, students of the game, passionate, and always looking to develop and improve. Their approach to the game is infectious to those around them. The best players make everyone around them better players and better people.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
I love the speed, intensity, and physicality of the game of hockey. Hockey is a team game and I love being part of the group whether its on the bus, in the dressing room, or on the ice.
