What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My main goal within the game of hockey over the next 5 years is to go play Junior A in the west for example in the AJHL or the BCHL or play in the USA in leagues like the NAHL or the USHL. After this I hope to pursue my dreams of playing hockey for a NCAA college hockey program, and completing a college degree in school.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals because as a kid I’ve always dreamed of playing NCAA hockey. They are so important to me because of the countless hours of blood, sweat and tears I have put into this game. For me to play NCAA hockey would mean the world to me as it would mean that I had completed a lifelong dream of mine as a hockey player.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a hockey player is my hockey IQ, my shot, and my playmaking ability. What separates me as a person is I am an incredibly hard worker who cares about the people around him whether it’s in the classroom or on the ice. Some areas of my game that require work are my defensive zone positioning, shooting the puck more, and my faceoffs. I continue to get better everyday by being a student of the game, whether that’s watching film or practicing on and off the ice I strive to better myself everyday.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
What I bring to any team I play for is great skill, skating ability and goalscoring, with a work ethic and will to win to match that. A coach can expect me to be a reliable player in all situations who can put the puck in the net and keep it out of ours. They can expect me to be the hardest worker on the ice, and never quit.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I’m looking to have a lasting impact on any team I play for, with not only the players and the coaching staff but the community as well. I want everyone to remember me for my brand as a person and a player.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I believe what separates the best players in the world from everyone else is their work ethic. A lot of good players have skill, but the best players are working to better themselves everyday, pushing to be the best player they can be. When no one is watching, the best players are training to push themselves to the limit to just gain an inch on the rest of the competition.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite part of the game is playing on a team. Every year you usually have a new team, but in just that one year you make friendships and memories to last a lifetime. I would consider everyone I’ve played with on my hockey teams to be my brothers.
