What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My main goal within the game is to play in a league that is regularly scouted for NCAA college hockey for example in the BCHL, AJHL, or NAHL. I am a very good student and enjoy school so my ultimate goal is to match that with my passion for playing hockey and go to a NCAA college hockey program.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
I would be pursuing my goal of playing hockey at a high level and completing a college degree. Achieving this goal would mean the world to me because of all the hard work I have put into my game since the age of four and I have always dreamed of playing NCAA hockey since I played a lot of my spring hockey in the New England states. At a very young age I became aware of the educational and hockey advantages of playing NCAA college hockey.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a player is my skating ability, hockey IQ and my ability to make plays. As a person I am dedicated to the sport. I am very disciplined in my training, I work really hard, get the required rest and practice good eating habits. I am a good teammate, always positive and encouraging. Some areas that require work is my awareness to shoot the puck more, instead of always making plays. I am constantly working on my on-ice shot and skills, and learn by watching videos of other players who execute their shots consistently in a game.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I bring compete, work ethic and hockey IQ with skill and skating to a team that I play for. A coach would expect to see a player that works hard every practice on the ice and off in the gym to make myself a better player for the team. I will work my hardest in hockey and at school.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The best players in the world separate themselves from the rest because of their hockey talent. Whether it is goal scoring, making plays, etc. The world’s best players got to this level because they consistently work harder than everyone else, remain focused on getting better everyday, stay mentally tough when things do not go the way they wanted, and push through the tough days when nothing goes right. They possess the intangibles of a never quit attitude, and a big heart that keeps them going.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favourite part of the game is when I am skating on the ice, I forget about everything else and just skate. I love to skate.
