What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Some of my main goals within the the game over the next 5 years are, reaching my full potential by working as hard as I can every day, and using my potential to reach the next level and play to the best of my abilities for as long as I can, which means I would love to play at the Junior A level and then possibly play at the college level as well.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
These are my goals, because I love hockey and always have wanted to play at the most elite level that I can. They are important to me because in my life I like to do everything the same way, which means that I do the absolute best that I can in everything I do, including school, working out, playing hockey, working on the farm, etc. If I was able to achieve these goals it would mean everything to me because it would prove that if you don’t make excuses, and you work as hard as you can every day, and have a positive attitude, you will be successful. I live by that.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
What separates me as a player and a person is that I like to do live by “how you do somethings is how you do everything” which means to me that in school, hockey, working out, and working on the farm, I have the same attitude that I am going to work as hard as I can do the best of my abilities. Some areas that are requiring work are probably my sleep, and body care habits, as a kid in high school, and being busy with hockey sometimes it is hard to focus on getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and taking care of my body. Every day to get better I always try to improve on something out of every category every day, for example, shooting pucks, lifting weights, stretching, and box breathing. That would be something from every category.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I bring leadership, grit, and an all around player that takes pride in his play all over the ice. A coach could expect from me to bring my best effort to the table every single day and an attitude to get better.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
In my sports career one of the biggest things for me is to try and show kids who are younger from the area that I am from that you don’t have to live in the city and have all the resources and opportunities that they do to be successful, and also to prove to myself that it is possible too.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I think the thing that separates the best players is their attitude and willing to grow and get better every day and put that before anything else in their lives. Their ability to pay attention to the details and use them to get better and the work ethic and dedication that they have sets them apart.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favourite thing about the game on the ice and off the ice is the team aspect, and the importance of a team, and how with the right group of guys, who hold each other accountable, and work to get better every day can accomplish great things like championships.
