What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
My main goals of the game over the next five years is to play Junior hockey until I age out and then continue on to college hockey.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
This is a goal of mine because hockey is a big passion in my life and I feel that I could contribute greatly to many junior teams throughout Canada. This is important to me, because like many other Canadaian boys, I have always dreamed of playing hockey at the highest possible level for myself. To achieve these goals would be a dream come true. If I could possibly get an education while playing hockey, this would be a great achievement for myself.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I don’t think there is really anything that separates me from being a player or person. What you see off the ice, is what you get on the ice. I am a hard worker, good leader, dedicated to the sport of hockey, as well as family, friends and schooling. An area that requires work, is that I could be more dedicated to school and work harder. I continue to get better by consistently setting goals for myself and working hard to achieve them, whether this is on my own or with the help of coaches, trainers, teachers, etc.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
Some qualities that I would bring to any team is a big body that likes to go to the dirty areas, strength on the ice, great work ethic, and a leader both on and off the ice. A coach would get a player that gives their all each and every practice and every shift during a game. One that listens, seeks feedback on areas of improvement from the coach and is always looking for.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
The impact I hope to have in the sport of hockey is to always help my team to the best of my ability, whether it is scoring, assisting goals or being a good leader. I would like to help contribute to the community I’ll be living in by helping coach, as I feel like I can give back to the kids. I enjoy kids and would love to instill a love for the sport in the ones I coach.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
I believe that hockey IQ and seeing the game better is what separates the best players in the world. The best players in the world don’t take days off and constantly working to make their game better and elevating themselves to be the best in the world.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
My favorite thing about the game of hockey the team atmosphere with the players on the team. Getting to know them and building a relationship with them. On the ice it would be the competition and competitiveness of the game.
