What are some of your main goals within the game over the next 5 years?
Next season my goal is to lead my team to playoffs and establish myself as the top goalie in the SMAAAHL. After I finish my grade twelve year, my goal is to play either Junior A hockey or Major Junior hockey. After junior, I would like to move my talents to the university/college level.
Why are these your goals? Why are they important to you? What would it mean to achieve them?
I love hockey and want to continue playing the game at the next level. I want to do what I love for as long as I can at the highest level. It would mean that I have achieved what I was working for and can continue to make new goals to play at the professional level either in Canada or internationally.
What separates you as a player and person? What are some areas requiring work? How do you continue to get better?
I am a leader with a positive mindset, and I am a team player. I have a strong dedication to the sport and work to get better every single day. Every time I go to the gym, I see it as an opportunity to get better physically. When I go to practice, my goal is to outwork the other goalie on the ice and set the positive example of how to push to get better. I am a coachable athlete as I take criticism seriously so that I can improve my craft. I am dedicated to the process of putting in the work everyday. I bring a winning attitude to the dressing room by believing in and trusting my teammates.
I am continuing to work on my confidence, and I will get better by staying focused and working on my mental health.
What do you bring to any team you play for? What could a coach expect from you if they selected you for their roster?
I bring a hardworking competitive mindset to any team that I play with. I am dedicated to the process and will continue to work to improve my skill on the ice. I believe that I lead by example, and I think it is important to be a good teammate. I bring a team first mentality and put team success over my own. I am a player who lifts teammates up by encouraging them, not criticizing them. A coach could expect me to be the player who will be
there every day putting in maximum effort and working to improve myself and the rest of the team. He could also expect me to listen to feedback and use it to make improvements.
What impact are you looking to have in your sports career? (Community, team, success, etc)
I want to be able to lead a team to a championship. But more importantly, I want to be the person who is remembered by my team as the teammate who helped boost their game. I want younger players to look up to me as an example of what they should be doing during games and practices. I enjoy coaching younger goalies so I would love to keep doing that.
What do you believe separates the best players in the world? What attributes/intangibles define them?
The best players in the world have extreme dedication. They consistently put in the work when no one is watching. They are goal-oriented but also enjoy the process and the bumps along the way. They take every situation as a learning experience and see it as a chance to improve.
Favorite thing about the game (on or off ice)?
Winning. There is no better feeling than going to battle for 60 minutes and coming out victorious. Being a part of a winning team is feeling like no other and being on a team where everyone is on board working for the same goal is amazing.
